Our Top Three Tips For Creating Healthy Skincare Habits

We all want to have healthy skincare habits, but it’s a lot easier said than done. When you’ve got good habits, it’s easier to manage change and stressful situations. You have a solid foundation, and this keeps you on track even when life gets busy. Skincare is an aspect of life that we can’t get away from.

Secret Beauty Club supports every phase of beauty, and as we move from one stage to the next, our needs naturally weave and change.

Being aware of our day-to-day skincare habits is a powerful way to address any issues and make positive changes. I

t’s never too late to start, and we encourage sustainable beauty routines throughout life. We have three tips for creating and maintaining healthy skincare habits.

They’re perfect for any stage of beauty, but the sooner you start, the sooner you can enjoy the wholesome skincare benefits.

BE CLEAR ON YOUR GOALS

In general, having a goal gives you direction and purpose. We hold the same approach to skincare. Create a plan for yourself and let that guide the rest of your efforts.

Maybe your goal is to minimize the appearance of acne scars or to reduce redness. It could be to prevent premature aging or to revive dull skin. Perhaps you just want fewer fine lines or wrinkles.

Whatever your personal skincare goal is, write it down or make an internal note. It needs to be short, clear (so that you’re able to remember it quickly), and accurate to you.

This will be your anchor to creating beautiful, healthy skincare habits and getting rid of those nasty ones. Being clear about your goals is the first step to actively and intentionally creating healthy skincare habits.

ACKNOWLEDGE & REWIRE A BAD HABIT

Think about your daily skincare routine. What do you do (or not do) for your skin? Do you wash, tone, and moisturize at least once a day? This is the starting point for skincare.

Are you unintentionally picking on your skin, frowning, scratching, or making strange facial expressions? How do you deal with pimples? You want to touch your face as little as possible. Locking your face in a certain way for long periods can leave marks later on.

Take at least one day to be completely aware of your motions around your skin and stop and note when you’re doing something a little off. It starts with awareness. Once you are more aware of these actions, there is acknowledgment, and you can rewire a habit slowly. The more you become aware, the more you will begin to renew and rewire.

RENEW YOUR MIND WITH A HEALTHY HABIT

Now that you’re aware of your bad habits or perhaps your lack of practices altogether, you can begin to introduce a new thought pattern. When you find yourself picking at a pimple or scab on your face, for example, you can immediately stop and then replace this action with something positive towards your goal. We suggest sipping water. You could also repeat a positive affirmation.

So, when you notice yourself going in for a scratch or pick on your face, stop and have some water or repeat that positive affirmation. Here you are taking adverse action and replacing it with something beneficial and positive for your overall health.

If you couldn’t pick up any bad habits but noticed that you did not have a routine in place, you can start your journey today. We have a whole article dedicated to creating a sustainable skincare routine. Some of the basics are to set aside time in the morning and evening to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin. This simple everyday habit will hold you in good stead throughout your journey.

Regardless of your age or skin type, this routine will be a stronghold for any issues. You can build on or take away from this structure depending on your needs.

These three tips are an excellent base for creating healthy skincare habits. Be clear on your goals, acknowledge and rewire bad habits, and replace them with a healthy routine. Remember that it takes time to build up new healthy habits and get rid of old ones. Be patient as you move through the process.
